OUR HISTORY

   In December, 2012 the Lord spoke to Pastor Melvin in a dream and said “my people are uncovered and they need to be covered.”  As Pastor Melvin awoke from his dream, he prayed and consulted God.    Exactly one month after his dream, while visiting Cottonwood Church,  the Holy Spirit once again spoke to Pastor Melvin  while seated in worship and clearly said, “I want you and your wife to cover my people.”   Immediately after Pastor Melvin received instructions from the Holy Spirit,  he whispered into his wife Judy's ear in Cottonwood Church to tell her what the Holy Spirit had just revealed to him.  As Sis. Judy listened, she whispered back to Pastor Melvin, and said “The Holy Spirit just told me the same thing.”  After much prayer and communing with the Holy Spirit, the vision was explicitly laid out for Pastor Melvin by the Holy Spirit.

 

     The vision was simple:   He told Pastor Melvin that "I (The Holy Spirit) am looking for Simple People wanting to serve and worship an Almighty God with simplicity (John 4:23-24).    I want you to cover my sheep that have left the covering of a pastor, and the fellowship of believers."   Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit,  Pastor Melvin and Sister Judy began a fellowship in their living room with 10 people on February 19, 2013.  Again the Holy Spirit spoke to Pastor Melvin again and said, “when there is no more space in the house, I want you to put a tent in your backyard.”  

 

     Out of obedience, Pastor Melvin and Judy put a 60x 20 tent in their back yard in March, 2013.   The tent remained in their back yard for seven months (seven is the number of completion).  Then, on the second Sunday in July, 2013, Pastor Melvin stood before the people of SWCF in the tent, and said “God told him that Simple Worship Christian Fellowship will have a building before the end of September, 2013.”     

 

  Not once did Pastor Melvin or the people of SWCF's faith waiver.    Simple Worship is a place where simple people trust an extraordinary God.  A place where Testimonies, or Test-I’m-On- Y are given weekly to help strengthen and to give hope to the hopeless.  Simple Worship is a place where our  love for one another is genuine, and where our prayers are answered.

 

     God's word is true.   On September 20, 2013,  his promise to give SWCF a place came into reality.   A long time neighbor that once lived next doorto Pastor Melvin's  home  came by the house unannounced.  Pastor Melvin hadn’t seen, this neighbor in over 10 years (because he had moved away).   The neighbor informed Pastor Melvin that he was retiring from the ministry and he wanted to see if Pastor Melvin wanted any of the contents of his building.    Pastor Melvin along with several of the men agreed to stop by the church to look at the contents  in the church, but while there, the Pastor of the church said,"Pastor Melvin God would have me to give you this place." 

 

    Not surprised,  but grateful, Pastor Melvin immediately prayed and thank God and said, “Lord your will be done."  Then on the last Sunday in September,2013  Pastor Melvin announced to the people of Simple Worship Christian Fellowship in the tent that we had a building.     We have baptized 10, and if it is the Lord’s will we will baptized an additional 5 candidates in January, 2015.   We have had 1 marriage, and 3 baby  dedication.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

 

    Simple Worship Christian Fellowship is a fellowship of simple people, serving an Almighty God.    A fellowship of believers where God doesn’t just go with us; but He goes before us preparing the way.
